Mdantsane is a historic urban township situated 15km outside East London in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The Mdantsane Tourism Precinct Plan aimed to develop a tourism precinct in Mdantsane that draws on its rich sporting, cultural, and struggle heritage.
A spatial database was compiled for the Precinct that captured key products, points of interest, support infrastructure, and amenities. In consultation with key government and community stakeholders, the Mdantsane Tourism Precinct Plan culminated in a vision and framework for the Precinct that is aligned with municipal spatial policy and local tourism product development.
