NSDF Young Planners Programme

NSDF Young Planners Programme
CLIENT: DRDLR/DPME
In the spirit of empowering a future generation of national planning specialists, the NSDF Young Planners Programme (NSDF YPP) was designed as a capacity-building component of the National Spatial Development Framework 2018 project.
The NSDF YPP is a 3-module short course in national spatial planning that was specifically designed to foster the skills needed for national planning in South Africa and future iterations of the NSDF. NSDF YPP coursework, study materials and assignments were hosted through an online classroom platform with themes ranging from South African planning history to the role of spatial data, drivers of future spatial trends and the South African national planning system.
28 young planning professionals (YPs) were nominated from the DRDLR Technical Working Group (TWG) by their mentors to take part in the NSDF YPP. The DRDLR Technical Working Group (TWG) is a collective of various government departments and institutions that have provided technical and strategic support over the course of the NSDF compilation process.
